Okorocha Breaks Fast With Muslims.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state broke fast with Muslim faithful saying that Ramadan is a period of spiritual rebirth that requires sober reflection, The Nation reports.

Okorocha  said this at a gathering of Muslim faithful at a Ramadan ‘iftar’. He tasked Christians and Muslims to unite and fight the
Boko Haram menace.
He urged Nigerians to pray for the nation, especially for President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed, explaining that Buhari’s victory proved that one should not judge someone from his tribe or religion but on a person’s ability to perform.

Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the Muslim Council in the state, Yusuf Nwoha, said the Ramadan ‘iftar’ had been a tradition since Governor Okorocha came to power. He said this year’s occasion was an important one, pointing out that the invitation was extended to Muslims residing in other southeast states.
Nwoha  thanked the governor for the honour granted them and asked Muslims to support the Okorocha-led government.

He requested for an Eid ground, large enough to contain the ever-increasing Muslim population as well as the establishment of a Muslim Pilgrims Welfare board in the state.
Iftar  is an evening meal Muslims take at the end of their daily Ramadan fast.
